Proposed exterior recladding, with new kitchen addition, and master suite second level addition
Located on a densely wooded site within the Oak Ridges Moraine Settlement, the aim of the project was to update and expand the home, to reinvent the dated exterior of the building, and to best connect with the surrounding landscape environment.
Building on the 1970's style architecture, a more contemporary approach was taken; the existing forms were maintained, yet by using new cladding materials, the building's exterior was reinvented in a contemporary yet timeless way. New additions were added to the north and south side of the home. Large glazed openings and a new screened porch were used as a way to connect with nature.
The design process included, review and approvals from the Lake Simcoe Conservation Board, as well as a compliance review and Natural Heritage Evaluation review by the Oak Ridges Moraine Settlement.
